Health Canada Approved, RN Administered
At Luna Med Spa, your safety and optimal results are our standard. We exclusively use the Eclipse MicroPen EVO™, a Health Canada-approved Class II medical device, to ensure the highest level of clinical precision.
Microneedling and your chosen add-on work as a two-step process and understanding the difference matters. The Eclipse MicroPen EVO creates thousands of precise microchannels in the skin's surface. Immediately after, your selected serum, whether PRP, Exosomes, or a targeted Peptide blend, is applied and absorbed directly through those open channels, reaching the deeper dermal layers where it can stimulate repair and renewal most effectively. The needling device creates the pathway. The serum does the work inside it. Together, they deliver results that neither achieves alone. All treatments are administered by Registered Nurses (RN/RPN) under the medical direction of Vijeta Singh, NP-PHC, MScN.
To maximize your results, our Registered Nurses (RN/RPN) can completely customize your session by infusing Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP), Exosomes, Peptides, or a variety of targeted serums deep into the dermis during the treatment, utilizing secondary enhancement tools like the Meso Gold®.

The Device Behind the Results: Eclipse MicroPen EVO
Not all microneedling devices are created equal, and the device matters more than most clinics will tell you.
At Luna Med Spa, we use the Eclipse MicroPen EVO, a Class II medical grade microneedling device officially approved by Health Canada. This designation means it has undergone rigorous clinical evaluation for safety, precision, and efficacy before it can legally be used in a clinical setting in Canada. It is not available for purchase over the counter, online, or at a spa that operates without medical oversight.
The Eclipse MicroPen EVO delivers controlled, adjustable needle penetration depths from 0.25mm to 2.5mm, allowing your Registered Nurse to customize the treatment precisely to your skin concern, your skin type, and the specific area being treated. This level of precision is clinically significant: too shallow and collagen induction is minimal; too deep and you risk trauma, scarring, or infection. The EVO removes that guesswork entirely.
Professional Microneedling vs. At-Home Devices: Why It Matters
At-home dermarollers and microneedling pens are widely available online, but comparing them to the Eclipse MicroPen EVO is like comparing a kitchen knife to a surgical scalpel. Here's what the difference means for your skin.
| Eclipse MicroPen EVO (Luna Med Spa) | At-Home Dermarollers / Amazon Devices | |
|---|---|---|
| Regulatory status | Health Canada-approved Class II medical device | Unregulated; no mandatory safety or efficacy evaluation required for sale in Canada |
| Needle depth control | Adjustable 0.25mm–2.5mm, set by your RN based on your skin and concern | Fixed depth; no customization; one setting for all skin types and areas |
| Needle motion | Vertical stamping, cleaner, more controlled channels with less epidermal tearing | Rolling motion, drags the needle laterally across skin, increasing micro-tear risk |
| Sterility | Single-use sterile cartridges, disposed after every treatment | Reusable needles that dull quickly and cannot be fully sterilized at home |
| Who performs it | Registered Nurses (RN/RPN) with clinical training, under NP medical direction | Self-administered with no clinical assessment or oversight |
| Serum penetration depth | Precisely controlled channel depth allows targeted infusion of PRP, Exosomes, or Peptides at the correct dermal level | Shallow and inconsistent; serums sit near the surface rather than reaching the dermis where collagen synthesis occurs |
| Risk of infection | Minimized through sterile technique, clinical environment, and post-care protocol | Elevated, dulled needles, skin bacteria, and improper aftercare increase infection and breakout risk |
| Results | Clinically validated collagen induction; measurable improvement in texture, tone, and scarring | Minimal to no clinical evidence of meaningful collagen induction at consumer needle depths |
We are not against client education, we think knowing the difference makes you a better advocate for your own skin. If you have been using an at-home device, tell your RN at your consultation. There are implications for treatment timing and skin preparation that your nurse will want to factor into your plan.
"The device genuinely matters. I've had clients come to us after trying at-home rollers for months with no improvement and see more visible change after two professional sessions than they did in a year of home treatment. The depth control, the sterile cartridges, the ability to pair with PRP or Exosomes at exactly the right level, that's what clinical microneedling actually is."

What to Expect:
Recovery & Results
Recovery from microneedling is not one-size-fits-all and knowing what to expect based on your specific treatment makes the healing process far less surprising.
A serum-only session at a lighter depth typically produces 1–3 days of redness and mild sensitivity, similar to a moderate sunburn that fades quickly. A deeper treatment targeting acne scarring or stretch marks, or one enhanced with Exosomes or Peptides, may extend that to 3–5 days. If you choose to add PRP to your session, expect an additional 1–2 days of redness beyond a standard treatment, this is a normal and expected response to the growth factors actively working in your skin, not a sign that anything has gone wrong.
In all cases, a brief peeling phase follows as your skin sheds the treated surface layer and reveals fresher, healthier tissue underneath. This is the process working exactly as it should.
Your Registered Nurse will give you a realistic recovery timeline specific to your treatment plan at your appointment, so you can plan around it confidently, whether that means scheduling before a weekend or avoiding a big event in the days immediately after.
1-7 Days
